General description of the collection: The Willy Arnheim photograph collection consists of travel photos taken in the Pusan area of Korea in 1945 and 1946. Mr. Arnheim was in the 40th Infantry Division and he took photos of a wide variety of subjects showing nearly every aspect of life in Korea at the time. The majority of the photos have nothing to do with the military, although he does picture some soldiers and the 40th Infantry Division Headquarters (HQ).

Willy Arnheim (1911-1990) was an expert in stone construction techniques, and worked as a consultant for the restoration of several stone buildings in Washington, D.C., including the United States Capitol, Smithsonian Institution, and National Gallery of Art. He worked as a stone mason and union organizer before serving as construction superintendent on over 100 buildings in the Washington, D.C. area and around the country.
